About the Artist

Anna Post is a contemporary artist from Brandenburg who grew up in Berlin.

Her work emerges from the interplay of color, movement, and structure. Intuitive painting meets hand-folded paper forms, creating works that balance between control and spontaneity.

Each piece begins physically: as a folded structure. Building on this, layers of color, texture, and movement develop. This creates pictorial spaces that change with the light and continually appear new.

To the collection

“My work begins with structure, but it is never about control.
I am interested in the moment when color, movement, and light enter into a relationship with form—when a new rhythm emerges.”

Artistic Process

Every artwork begins with a physical structure.

Hand-folded paper forms serve as the starting point—not as a sketch, but as a real, three-dimensional element.

These forms are painted, reworked, and transformed through multiple layers. Color, movement, and material enter into a dialogue.

The finished works preserve this origin—and visibly embody the tension between precision and intuition.

  • Color

Layer by layer, color reveals its effect. Intense contrasts create depth, movement, and atmosphere.

  • Folding

Hand-folded paper forms provide the spatial foundation of my work, lending dynamism and rhythm to every composition.

  • Structure

Layered materials and textured surfaces create a sculptural depth that shifts with the interplay of light and shadow.

Materials & Techniques

Anna Post works with mixed-media techniques, combining hand-folded paper structures with intuitive painting processes. Acrylic paints, spray paints, and texture pastes are applied in multiple layers and enter into a lively dialogue with the folded elements.

This creates multi-layered surfaces, spatial depth, and a compelling interplay of color, material, light, and shadow.

To produce high-quality art prints, the original works are professionally digitized. For relief-like works, a special fine-art scanning process is used to reproduce the effects of materiality, surface textures, light, and shadow as faithfully as possible.

“Structure is my starting point—movement my goal.”
